80 meters Tubular Tower

   The measurement height needs to be as close as possible to the wind turbine height, so that data are credible and bankable. With taller turbines, the necessity of higher wind assessment towers is increased. The aerodynamic and thin profile of the MEGA 80HD does not disturb air flow and does not create turbulence any more than the traditional tubular towers.

   The MEGA 80HD Package will help you measure as close as possible to the wind turbine height with :

  • 2 Anemometers at 80 Meters
  • 1 Wind Vane at 78 Meters
  • 1 Anemometer at 60 Meters
  • 1 Wind Vane at 58 Meters
  • 1 Anemometer at 40 Meters
  • 1 Temperature at 3 Meters

       Tilt-up tower comes complete with :

  • Robust galvanized hinged base
  • Ground anchors, dead man
  • Guy wires c/w yellow guy protection
  • All required bolts and attachments with spares
  • Lightning protection and grounding wire

       The MEGA 80HD is warranted* for wind gusts as high as 45 m/s (162km/h) at top height from any direction without ice.

       The MEGA 80HD is warranted for uniform and naturally occuring ice accumulation on guy wires up to 15 mm in radial ice. When icing is present (even lower than 15 mm radial) the maximum warranted  wind gust is 120km/h (33m/s) at top height.

    Don’t guess the wind speed, measure it at the right height! The usage of temporary and permanent towers is well spread in the meteorological, communication and wind assessment fields. The tower needs to be as light as possible and must be erected with basic tools such as a gin pole. Such towers are generally installed in remote areas and are often in place for a limited period of time, from a few months to 5 years or more. The measurement height needs to be as close as possible to the wind turbine hub height, so that data are credible and bankable. With taller turbines, the necessity of higher wind assessment towers is increased. As in the mining or petroleum industry, wind energy needs prospecting prior to the investment of a full-scale wind farm. We have installed towers in isolated, difficult and uneven ground in some of the worst weather conditions on earth.
